First things first—thanks again to everyone getting their games in, sending videos, and keeping this thing moving. Cold nights. Busy weeks. Sore shoulders. You keep showing up. That’s the league.
We’ve hit the halfway point of the season, which is usually when the standings stop being “interesting” and start being real. The playoff picture isn’t locked yet—but it’s starting to come into focus.
Division 1
In Division 1, the Motor City Sharpshooters and Skyline Swishers continue to look like the front runners. Consistent. Seasoned. Businesslike.
Right behind them, Pop It Like It’s Hot has put up 2,000+ points in back-to-back weeks—no small feat, especially considering Captain Michael Pashkow is doing it with a thumb injury on his shooting hand. Apparently the potato peeler is already in custody.
The real drama, though, is that fourth playoff spot. And right now? It feels wide open.
The Pro Wrestling Tee Slammers pulled out a nail-biter over the Hyphy Hoopsters, surviving a heroic effort from ASAPEZRA, who has emerged as the team’s top scorer. I’m curious to see how high the kid’s ceiling really is. I’ve also heard great things about his ganache.
The Electric Bats picked up a big win over a short-handed Rec Center Royalty squad—don’t let that loss fool you. Royalty has already shown they’re capable of 2,000+ weeks. They’re still dangerous if they get healthy.
Division 2
Over in Division 2, Deep Swish Pizza keeps rolling along, despite a finger(nail) injury of their own.
This week’s matchup between an emerging Sip n’ Flip Hoopsters squad and the always-resilient Tennessee Fireballers has “playoff preview” written all over it. Captain JCaltab always seems to have his team peaking at the right time, but the Hoopsters re-tooled squad is showing some firepower of their own.
And finally—keep an eye on the Rim Reapers. The record says 1–2. The numbers say something else. This new crew out of Tempe, Arizona is averaging 1,500+ points per week, and teams like that tend to make noise in the back half of the season.
If it sounds like I’m enjoying myself… it’s because I am.
