The Commissioner’s Letter — Week 2 Playoffs

From the Desk of Mr. Pop

Well, well, well… the inaugural NPASL season has officially crossed the finish line, what a ride.

Let’s start in Motor City. The Sharpshooters rolled out their finest performance of the year: 2,178 points, a total that would’ve toppled just about anybody else. Unfortunately for them, the 1-seed San Diego Garage Crew doesn’t qualify as “just about anybody else.” The Crew turned in their best outing too, dropping 2,228. And yes, Murph’s much-debated decision to rest that shoulder seems to have worked — he strolled back in, hung 781 on the board, and even tossed in a casual 203-point game, yikes.

Congrats to your league champions the San Diego Garage Crew. And hats off to both squads. Hell of a game. Hell of a season.

Season Awards – Inaugural Class

Let’s give out the rest of our hardware before I start crying tears of pride all over my clipboard.

🏆  Murph — MVP & Scoring Title

In a league full of flamethrowers, Murph was the sun. Top scorer every single week on his way to 4,611 points in the regular season. Untouchable. Clinical. Downright rude at times. What a year.

🏆  Jcaltab — Captain of the Year
The Tennessee Fireballers entered the league like newborn deer on ice. Three rookies averaging 65 points a game in Week 1? I’ve seen sturdier starts from a folding chair. But by season’s end those same rookies were pushing 90 a game — steady growth only possible with the right voice, the right leader, the right captain. Tip of the cap, Jcaltab.

🏆  Briannanana — Most Improved Player

A casual 58% jump in weekly average from week 1 to week 6. That’s not improvement — that’s a whole new human being. With a couple more weeks she’s Century Club material, and life will never be the same.

🏆  FrankBux — 4th Player of the Year

The Sodbusters struck gold with Frank. Started as the team's #4 scorer, putting up 70 fewer points than the team captain. By Week 6? Climbed all the way to the #2 spot, just 29 points off the team lead. Mark my words: Season 2 won’t be won by the flashiest scorer — it’ll be won by teams with a Frank.

🏆  Blade_man — Mr. Pop’s Heart & Hustle Award

Cross-town drives, injuries, roster chaos, last-minute subs — captains crumble under far less. But Blademan? He showed up with gratitude, grit, and that “lucky to be here” smile every single week. The guy made it happen. That’s the stuff of legends. Blademan, we salute you.

A Final Word

That’s a wrap on Year One. What a ride. What a class. You made history whether you meant to or not.

Rest up, recalibrate, and circle January on your calendars.

Season 2 is coming — and it’s going to be a whole new enchilada.

Arrivederci,
